Water-Soluble MAP 12-61-0
Water-soluble monoammonium phosphate 12-61-0 — a purified, fully soluble phosphate for fertigation, foliar application and the manufacture of soluble NPK blends.
12-61-0 NH4H2PO4 CAS 7722-76-1 White crystal or crystalline powder
Available on enquiry — supply confirmed per order
Water-soluble MAP is a different product from the granular MAP sold as 11-52-0, and the difference is not cosmetic. This is a purified crystal: 12% nitrogen, 61% P2O5, essentially free of water-insoluble residue. It dissolves completely, which is the whole point.
The application is irrigation. In drip and sprinkler systems a phosphate source that leaves residue will block emitters, and cleaning a drip line is more expensive than the difference in product cost. The same reasoning applies to foliar sprays, where undissolved particles scorch leaf and plug nozzles.
It is also the phosphate component in soluble NPK manufacture. A formulator building a 12-61-0 or a high-phosphate soluble blend needs a phosphate that will not precipitate out of the tank, and technical-grade water-soluble MAP is what is specified.
Specification
The table below gives the nominal analysis and the parameters that a buyer should write into the contract. Values that depend on the production lot are not printed as numbers here, because a number on a website is not a guarantee — the lot COA is.
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Total nitrogen (N) | 12% min |
| P2O5 | 61% min |
| Water-insoluble matter | Confirmed per lot — see TDS / COA The figure that decides whether the product is genuinely fertigation grade |
| Moisture | Confirmed per lot — see TDS / COA |
| pH (1% solution) | 4.2–4.8 typical |
| Appearance | White crystal or powder |
| Heavy metals | Confirmed per lot — see TDS / COA Reported per lot where a food or feed chain is involved |
Typical values describe the grade as it is normally traded. The guaranteed analysis for your order is the one stated on the certificate of analysis issued for the production lot, and it is confirmed in the sales contract before shipment.
Applications
- Drip and micro-sprinkler fertigation
- Foliar nutrient sprays
- Soluble NPK and PK blend manufacture
- Hydroponic and substrate growing
Why this product, and not the one next to it
Dissolves completely
A purified crystal leaves no residue in the tank or the line, which is the requirement in any irrigation system that cannot be dismantled for cleaning.
Concentrated phosphate
61% P2O5 in a fully soluble form means less product to store, transport and dissolve per unit of nutrient delivered.
Acidifying in the tank
The acidic reaction helps keep hard-water bicarbonate in solution and reduces scale in the irrigation line, which is why it is often paired with calcium nitrate in a programme rather than in the same tank.
Packaging options
- 25 kg PP woven bags with PE liner
- 25 kg paper bags, for markets that require them
- 1000 kg jumbo bags (FIBC)
Loading quantity depends on packaging, container type and the weight limit of the destination country. It is confirmed per order. The bag type, bag weight, liner and marks are stated on the quotation so that two offers can be compared on the same basis.
Quality documentation
- Certificate of analysis for the production lot
- Technical data sheet
- Material safety data sheet
- Packing list and commercial invoice
- Certificate of origin
Documents are issued on a per-shipment basis. Certification availability is confirmed for each order before contract.
Export considerations
Do not mix water-soluble MAP with calcium-containing solutions in the same tank: calcium phosphate precipitates and both nutrients are lost. They are applied in sequence, not together.
Water-insoluble matter is the specification that has to be written into the contract. Ask for the figure on the COA rather than accepting a description.

Questions buyers ask about WS MAP
Is 12-61-0 the same product as MAP 11-52-0?
No. Both are monoammonium phosphate, but 11-52-0 is a granule with filler and a partly water-soluble phosphate, made for soil application. 12-61-0 is a purified crystal with essentially no insoluble residue, made to dissolve. Substituting one for the other in a fertigation programme will block the system.
What water-insoluble figure should I specify?
Set the limit against what your irrigation system can tolerate, and write it into the contract with the test method. A low single-digit percentage or below is the normal expectation for genuine fertigation grade; the exact figure on the lot COA is what governs acceptance.
Can it be used in foliar sprays?
Yes, and it is one of the more common foliar phosphate sources. Keep the concentration within crop tolerance — the acidic reaction is strong at high dose rates — and do not tank-mix with calcium.
